work supports
|
Work supports are based on the needs of the Employee. Some Job Seekers require extra help doing their job. Our Job Coaches provide that support. They work with the Employee, providing the support, encouragement, and, if needed, helping them to complete the parts of the job they may find more challenging. The Job Coach is not there to do the job for the Employee but to teach, support, direct, and guide. The Job Coach will help to create a natural support team and work with the employer to help build the independence of the Employee.

Example:
The Employee may need assistance setting up their workstation but is able to complete the rest of the job independently. In this case, the Job Coach provides initial support and then leaves for the remainder of the shift. If the Employee requires ongoing assistance, the Job Coach remains present throughout the shift, working alongside them by guiding, directing, teaching, and supporting as needed. When navigating online trainings, the Job Coach may also help by teaching, reading aloud, and explaining course material.

Employment Specialist Check-inWhen the Job Seeker is able to perform all job duties and relies on natural supports in the workplace, we implement Employment Specialist Check-Ins to promote independence and a positive work experience. The Employer may still wish to maintain contact with Great Bay Services’ Employment Team to communicate the needs of either the Employer or Employee, ensuring the employee is satisfied, understands job expectations, and can access support if challenges arise. If needed, the Employer or Employee can request the Job Coach to return and assist the Employee in learning new tasks. Open communication among all parties is a priority. We encourage feedback from both employers and employees and offer assistance with evaluations, paperwork, online training, and more to maintain clarity and support ongoing success.

career planning
Career Planning at Great Bay Services is best described as helping potential employees find their employment path. In some cases, individuals may have a job already, but would like to change careers. Career Planning provides individuals with the support and clarity to find a job or seek a new one with confidence. The Career Planner works with the Job Seeker and their support circle. They focus on the person's interests, strengths, surroundings, hobbies, and goals. It’s about an individual's ABILITIES. After the Career Planner gets to know the individual, they work as a team to explore surrounding community businesses and set up tours, working on a trial based on interest. Great Bay Services is not looking for a job but is exploring the career pathways so the Job Seeker can get a feel for what is out there. The Career Planner generates themes based on the person's interests, and they use those themes to find businesses that align. This report is compiled and then shared with Vocational Rehabilitation Services to assist with job placement.
