Great Bay Services' Independent Living Program is designed to serve members who are currently receiving Section 21 and Section 29 waivers. The mission of Independent Living is to help maintain and strengthen independence for individuals who are either currently living at home with their families or roommates as well as to recipients who live in their own homes or apartments.

All services are designed to support each individual member reach their personal goals as outlined in their personal care plan.
Independent Living offers flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, seven days a week to people who work and/or attend other programs. |

Our Services
Areas of focus for our Independent Living Direct Support Professionals
SafetyHousekeeping, laundry, ensuring safety in the home such as monitoring smoke alarms, potential hazards for falling, expired foods etc.

Health & NutritionHealth and nutrition support to include menu planning, grocery shopping, price comparisons, storing foods safely, meal prep, cooking, and portion control.

Fiscal ResponsibilityBudgeting and banking, bill paying, saving for incidentals and procuring and securing entitlements.

Personal HygienePersonal hygiene supports to include cues, reminders or physical assistance with showering, proper dental care, appropriate weather attire etc.

EducationEducation and modeling to learn public transportation when available.

The Independent Living Program also focuses on medication oversight of accuracy, follow through, refills, reporting missed dosages', monitoring side effects, assistance with administration of medication by certified CRMA’s. Our staff support with scheduling, transportation, and advocacy to medical, dental, and psychiatric appointments. Encouragement is provided for self-management in the areas of safe and responsible behavior, advocating in the members’ best interest including conveying information and interpreting information. This also includes teaching coping skills, giving emotional support and assistance with accessing any necessary resources needed.
Our Direct Support Professionals in the Independent Living Program monitor and report on members' personal wellbeing, specifically in the areas of possible abuse, neglect, and exploitation. They also provide encouragement and assistance with accessing community events and social opportunities.
