Community Participation Supports Senior DSP (NH)
Teresa Stephan
I started at Great Bay in 2011 as a one-on-one staff. I also worked as a floater when my client was out. When he left GBS, I was asked to work as a chef in the kitchen GBS had in Newington. I said yes, but only if I could have clients help with the cooking to work on their goals. When the kitchen closed, I worked as a DSP, still teaching cooking and working on goals. I left the day service program in 2016 to work at our group home in York, Maine until it closed in 2018. I then return to the Dover center as a DSP. I enjoy teaching our clients new life skills and watching them learn new skills. The challenge of the different clients keeps me coming back to help them find a better way to be a part of the community they live in. I enjoy spending time with my dog, walking in the woods. I do a lot of crafting in my spare time. I have a son who lives in Kittery, Maine.
